We applaud the sponsors of the recently introduced Chemical Safety Improvement Act (CSIA) for their work to update the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) so that it provides a national chemical program that is transparent, based on sound science, and enhances the protection of human health and the environment.

We also want to acknowledge the tireless role played by the late Senator Frank Lautenberg in his work to advance TSCA reform. By working constructively in a bipartisan manner, Senator Lautenberg, along with Senator Vitter have offered the Senate a unique opportunity to build on their good work to modernize TSCA.

We look forward to working with Senate cosponsors, the Committee, and other key stakeholders as the bill moves through the process to ensure that any new law accomplishes these objectives and effectively addresses concerns about certain chemicals that are used in our daily lives.
